La torre Eiffel cerrada dos días más por la nieve y el hielo

La torre Eiffel permanecerá cerrada a los visitantes el viernes y el sábado “todo el día”, dado que las escaleras y las plataformas son impracticables debido a la nieve y el hielo, anunció la empresa que gestiona el monumento.

“La importante masa de nieve que cubre a la Dama de Hierro y las temperaturas muy bajas que generaron placas de hielo hacen actualmente impracticables plataformas y escalera”, informó la compañía en un comunicado.

La “naturaleza misma” de la torre Eiffel, explicó, complica las técnicas para retirar la nieve: no se puede poner sal en las plataformas porque es corrosiva para el metal y tampoco se permite utilizar arena dado que podría dañar los mecanismos del ascensor.

El monumento, uno de los más visitados del mundo, fue cerrado a los visitantes el martes, debido al temporal de nieve que se abatió sobre París.

La torre Eiffel recibió en 2017 más de seis millones de visitantes.
